The creative concept
The young designers of Accademia del Lusso, inspired by masterpieces such as La Dolce Vita, La Strada and Juliet of the Spirits, have captured and translated the essence of Fellini's cinema into fashion creations: the decadent elegance, the circus atmosphere, the contrast between reality and imagination. All aspiring designers, not just the Fashion Design graduates, have had the opportunity to see their garments on the catwalk, through a contest launched at the beginning of the academic year to select the best designs.
76 creations, 30 designers
76 outfits designed by 25 students from Milan and 5 students from Rome will be on the catwalk. The creations are divided into three macro categories attributable to Fellini's imagery: Funky Town, Minimal chic, and Dreamlike (“Onirico”). Each outfit tells a story, an idea, a dream, taking the audience on an exciting journey.
In collaboration with Manteco
The designers of Accademia del Lusso have created their outfits using the fine fabrics of Manteco, a leading company in the textile sector that stands out for its focus on sustainability and its use of innovative recycling techniques. For the occasion, Manteco has produced a dedicated limited-edition label for the outfits made by the students.
An ode to the magic of cinema
Giampiero Mele, Educational Director of Accademia del Lusso, says:
“ONIRICON, an ode to the magic of cinema and fashion! Accademia del Lusso is transforming the Calabiana Talent Garden into a realm of fantasy, where Federico Fellini's dreams come to life through the creations of the young designers. The event falls within the scope of the Grand Tour Afam research project, financed through funds from the Ministry of University and Research related to the internationalisation of artistic and musical higher education institutions. This research found Federico Fellini to be a prolific topic for promoting Made in Italy and the internationalisation of Fine Arts Academies. Accademia del Lusso is playing its part by contributing to this research project, which will have widespread impact on an international level in the near future.”
